Clean-up Your Yard Before Winter Arrives

Clean-up Your Yard Before Winter Arrives

The leaves are starting to fall and summer flowers are beginning to fade. All of this points to fall lawn clean-up time. It’s time to remove leaves, thatch, and other debris from your lawn and landscape.

At Jamison Lawn Care, we’re gearing up for fall yard clean-ups so that no leaves and other debris are lying on your turf during winter.

Every tree is unique. Some species will drop their leaves starting in early September, while others hold onto their leaves until December winds blow in. We may need to visit your property two times this fall to clean-up the early and late leaf drops.

We’ll also haul away your leaves to save you time and money.

Plant of the Month: Hydrangeas Give Your Landscape a Pop of Reblooming Color in the Fall

Did you know some hydrangeas will bloom well into fall? While adding chrysanthemums, pumpkins, and asters to your fall patio décor, your flowerbeds will still shine with white, blue, or pink blooms from your remontant (reblooming) hydrangea bushes.

Hydrangeas come in all shapes and sizes. Here are some of the more popular types of hydrangeas that you would find in your local garden center:

Lacecap and mophead hydrangea
Dwarf hydrangeas
Oakleaf hydrangeas
Limelight hydrangeas
Reblooming hydrangeas.
All reblooming hydrangeas bloom on old and new wood. Summer blooms grow on old wood, and late summer or early fall blooms grow on new wood. This is how you get the extended bloom time.

Most reblooming hydrangeas come in mophead or lacecap bloomers, which are Bigleaf hydrangeas (its Latin name is Hydrangea macrophylla). If you provide the proper care for reblooming hydrangea bushes, they’ll bloom well into the fall season, up to the first frost.

Your garden center may sell the following reblooming hydrangea shrub varieties:

Endless Summer
Penny Mac
Let’s Dance Starlight
Everlasting.
At Jamison Lawn Care, we’ll help you design your landscape to include the right hydrangeas for your property. We’ll also help you with the best reblooming hydrangea variety to fit your Chalfont, PA landscape.

Remember to Care for Your Hydrangeas

Since we’ve had an abnormally dry summer, your hydrangeas may not have survived the hot, dry conditions. If that’s the case, we’ll dig out your dead hydrangea bushes and add new ones.

Alternatively, we may need only to prune out the dead branches and deadhead spent blooms.

We serve homeowners and commercial properties in Buckingham and Warwick Townships, including these Pennsylvania towns: Chalfont, Doylestown, Furlong, Hatboro, Horsham, Jamison, Southampton, Warminster, Warrington, and Warwick.
