Our Mulch & Rock Installation Process

Proper installation of a rock or mulch covering is vital to receiving all the benefits of this treatment. Our trained crew follows a thorough process when installing ground coverings to ensure that your plants will receive all of the benefits that they provide. When we come out to your property, we will prepare your landscape beds by clearing out any debris in them. Then, we will level the soil to create an even area to apply the ground coverings. Finally, we will apply the ground covering approximately two to three inches thick as this is the sweet spot between a ground covering that is too thick or too thin. We will also ensure to leave some room around the base of your plants so that the ground covering doesn’t suffocate them.

How often should ground coverings be replenished?

To ensure that your ground coverings are consistently providing your plants with their intended benefits, you’ll want to replenish your ground coverings at least once a year. For mulch ground coverings, this is important because mulch will break down over time. This is beneficial to your plants because the mulch will deliver nutrients to your soil as it breaks down. However, you’ll need to replenish the mulch to make sure that there is enough in your landscape beds to provide the benefits that it should.

Rock ground coverings don’t break down, but they should still be replenished once per year. For various reasons, you will likely lose some rocks over the course of the year, so you’ll need to replenish those rocks to ensure that you have enough to provide the intended benefits.
